GPS OBD Tracker: Privacy policy

Effective 4 November 2026. Applies to the iPhone app and the Android app.

GPS OBD Tracker records your drives on your phone. Your trips and car data stay on your device (and, on iPhone, in your own iCloud account). We have no servers that receive them, we have no accounts, and we can't see your data.

Who we are

GPS OBD Tracker is made by The Mains Technology (Pty) LTD. Contact: gpsobdtracker@themains.tech.

What the app stores, and where

The app keeps the following on your phone, so it can show your trips and statistics:

iPhone: if you're signed in to iCloud, your data syncs through your private iCloud database, and backups go to your iCloud Drive. Apple holds this for you under your Apple Account; we can't access it.

Android: backups go to a folder you choose. If that folder is in a cloud service, that service holds the copy under its own terms. Android's own device backup includes only the app's settings, not your trips.

What leaves your phone

Some features need an online service. Each one gets only what it needs for that request, and none of it comes to us:

These providers handle requests under their own privacy policies.

The app connects by Bluetooth only to your OBD adapter.

What we don't do

Crash reports and emails

If you've agreed in your phone's settings to share diagnostics with app developers, Apple or Google may send us crash reports and app performance data. These don't include your trips.

If you email us, including any debug log or export you choose to attach, we use it only to answer you and to fix problems, and we delete it once we're done.

Permissions

The app still works with any of these turned off; only the features that need them stop.

Your choices

Children

The app is for drivers and isn't aimed at children.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and its date. If the app ever starts sending your data to us, we'll say so here and in the app before it happens.
